Stucco Repair & Renovation

Although Stucco is a very durable and long-lasting exterior, damage does occasionally occur.  The first evaluation can be done by the homeowner:  is the damage significant, with bowing or soft spots, or is it cosmetic, with a few hairline cracks?  Hairline cracks do not violate the integrity of the stucco as long as they do not penetrate to the underlying lath or sheathing.  Another point of evaluation:  are the bands around the windows and door made of soft E.I.F.S. or hardcoat cement?  Hardcoat bands rarely break; soft E.I.F.S. bands are prone to damage.  

Having evaluated the damage visually, and determined repair is necessary, the next step is to determine whether it is the stucco itself that is damaged, or whether there is an underlying problem, such as leaking from the roof flashing or around the windows and doors, or invading pests such as termites.  These problems must be addressed before any stucco repair can begin.
